CONWAY, Ark. (09/17/24) – The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) Super Late Models will sanction a very special event this weekend. On Friday and Saturday, the inaugural Steve Rushin Memorial will be held at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Ark.).
The event salutes long-time racer, sponsor and car owner, Steve Rushin. The Poplar Bluff, Missouri native passed away on Sept. 9, 2023 at the age of 57.
“Steve Rushin was a special man to so many in our sport. He was a fierce competitor, a loyal car owner, and a devoted sponsor but even more he was a great friend to so many of us in this sport,” said CCSDS CEO Chris Sullivan. “A lot of us got know Steve back in the MLRA (Midwest LateModel Racing Association) days and then into the MARS (Mid America Racing Series) days. He always had a smile on his face, and he went above and beyond to help racers and racing as a whole. We all miss up something terrible, so it means a lot to salute his memory this weekend at Batesville (Motor Speedway).
A red-hot championship battle thunders into Batesville Motor Speedway this weekend. Two-time CCSDS Champion Logan Martin hold a mere 15-point advantage as the Midwest Sheet Metal Marked Man atop Morgan Bagley for the top spot in the points. On the heels of his Saturday night win at Arrowhead Speedway, B.J. Robinson is only 61 markers out of the lead with two-time CCSDS titlist, Kyle Beard only 66 points back in fourth.
Jon Mitchell, Scott Crigler, Clayton Stuckey, Brandon Ball, Austin Vincent, Charlie Cole, Jon Kirby, and Chance Mann round out the Top 12 in the latest points.
The Midwest Sheet Metal Rookie of the Year battle will go down to the wire this year as well. Brandon Ball holds a 16-point lead over Austin atop the battle.
The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Super Late Model sanctioned Steve Rushin Memorial is up next on Sept. 20 – 21 at Mooney Starr’s Batesville Motor Speedway.
