COMP Cams Super Dirt Series Releases 2019 Schedule
By Ben Shelton (Conway, AR) -- The COMP Cams Super Dirt Series presented by Lucas Oil has officially unveiled their 2019 schedule. The docket includes 28 dates at 16 different venues.
“We are really proud of this schedule that we’ve put together for the upcoming season,” new CCSDS owner Jack Sullivan commented. “There’s a lot of great tracks on here, and we’ve bumped several of the purses. We also focused on putting together a schedule where a working guy can run with us the whole year and only have to take a few days off from work. After talking with racers and promoters, I’m excited to know that we all have the same goal of making this the top regional series in the country. This is going to be a great season.”
The tour kicks off the 2019 campaign in new territory with a trip to Rose Bowl Speedway (Winona, Texas) on March 22. The $3,000-to-win program marks the first time that the series has ever visited the clay oval. One night later the tour rolls into Boothill Speedway (Greenwood, Louisiana) for another $3,000-to-win affair.
Texarkana, Texas’ oval, 67 Speedway returns to the schedule after an eight-year hiatus on Friday, April 12. It will be part of a big weekend in the Razorback State. The race is paired with the $5,000-to-win, annual Will McGary Tribute at Tracey Clay’s I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Arkansas). Former NASCAR racer, Ken Schrader will also be on hand at I-30 Speedway as part of the night’s festivities.
The Bad Boy 98 at Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas returns to the schedule on May 10-11. For the first time ever, the event will be solely sanctioned by the COMP Cams Super Dirt Series. A $5,000-to-win program is planned for Friday night with a $15,000-to-win program on Saturday evening.
The month of June will be anchored by the annual Rockabilly 45 at I-30 Speedway. The June 8 event posts a $5,000 winner’s check. It’s part of a doubleheader weekend, which sees the action open a night earlier at Trent Francis’ Crowley’s Ridge Raceway (Paragould, Arkansas).
The tour returns to Batesville Motor Speedway in August for the 27th annual COMP Cams Topless 100 on August 15-17. Thursday and Friday’s events will each see a $5,000 winner’s check up for grabs, while Saturday’s race posts a $40,000 top prize. The weekend is co-sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.
CCSDS adds a new signature event to the slate in September. The inaugural Southern Dirt Track Championship at The Dirt Track at Texas Motor Speedway (Justin, Texas) is scheduled for September 13-14. On Friday night a $3,000-to-win race is planned. On Saturday evening a $5,000 winner’s check is on the line. There’s a good possibility that the purses for both events will be boosted. More details will be released in the coming weeks.
October’s docket features the CCSDS competitors going head-to-head with the Lucas Oil Midwest Late Model Racing Association (MLRA) at Lucas Oil Speedway during the annual Fall Nationals. The October 11-12 weekend will see a $3,000-to-win and a $5,000-to-win race held.
The series brings down the curtain on 2019 with a pair of shows in November. On November 2, Jackson Motor Speedway will play host to the annual All American 60, which will see competitors chasing a $6,000 payday. The final event is scheduled for Saturday, November 30 at Lone Star Speedway (Kilgore, Texas). $5,000 is on the line for the winner of the annual Topless Lone Star Turkey Nationals.
